A merry little Christmas

Ah! It’s that Christmas time of the year yet again! And it’s going to be a very, very different and strange festive season than the usual one. Bristol has moved from Tier 3 to Tier 2 and back to Tier 3 within the space of a week. And with the numbers of infections going up things are only going to get worse.

So this year we will be on our own, with no family visits or big meals around the table. We will very much miss seeing everyone and it won’t seem the same without all the laughter and merriment. Mind you, we haven’t had to buy as much food as usual and we won’t be spending so much time preparing it either. And, having bought most gifts online, I haven’t missed trawling around shops. It’s a relief not having to wade through acres of Christmas tat while force fed irksome festive muzak. Could it be that not everything we traditionally do at Christmas is necessary?

Anyway, even though it’s just the two of us for the duration, our tree is up and the decorations are up in all their glory. The cupboards are full of food and we are ready. It just remains for me to wish that however you celebrate Christmas this year you have a good one. See you on the other side!
