Birthday Walk

Young sweetcorn leaves in a field

Another year, another birthday. It was a nice, bright, sunny day so we decided that a long walk was the order the day. We headed up to Tortworth in South Gloucestershire as we hadn’t been there for a very long time. After parking up in a lay-by and walking next to a fast busy road it was a relief to get off the beaten track. We climbed a stile and made our way through a large field. As far as the eye could see it was full of young sweetcorn, bright green and glowing under the Sun. I stopped briefly and took the above shot. It was a lovely, enjoyable walk, apart from the fast road to get to and from the lay-by. We rounded off the day with a pub meal at the first place we could find. Despite the hot day it was churning out roast dinners like nobodies business, the queue for it was out the door. We had something else!
Next year it’s the big one, my sixtieth birthday. I’m already getting asked what I’m planning to for it!
