Day of the dead day
Well, the clocks have gone back an hour. And now it’s that Day of the Dead, Halloween, or Samhain and Guy Fawkes time of year. This photograph shows quite an impressive shop display I spotted on the way home from work.
We didn’t make it out to any firework displays this year, it’s been too wet. But here’s a photo from a few years back that I quite like. We stood around in a dank, dark, freezing cold field for absolute ages to wait for this display.
With the clocks going back it’s now dark when we get up and getting dark when I get back from work. It can be quite frustrating. As a keen gardener I enter into the realm of only seeing the garden during daylight hours at the weekends. But there has been so much rain that there is not much to do. I did do one job during the half-term holidays that is already paying off. I adding more stepping stones to the garden as it was already reaching quagmire status. I’m pleased with how it’s turned out.
The relentless, steady march of Christmas has been gathering pace. It’s much more in your face in the shops now and plans have already made for who’s going to be where and when. Christmas lists have been gone through and adjusted.
And yes, we have said ‘we mustn’t go bonkers and spend a fortune like last year,’ which we say every year. We always fail.
