What I did on my holidays
Well, that’s the summer holidays just about done and dusted. Although, to be truthful, there’s not been a lot of dust. I may have a dislike of very hot weather but it’s been a bit so-so in the weather department. The long lost sunny blue sky days of our youth never quite seems to match the reality of a British summer…
Here comes summer?
Phew! At long last Term 6 has come to an end, and as Alice Cooper sang, ‘School’s out’ for the summer.
Hurrah for the Summer Holidays then! It’s been a tough old year in education and it’s a miracle we’ve all managed to get to the end in relatively one piece.
Lockdown continues
About halfway through February and there’s a subtle shift in day length. It’s no longer dark when I arrive at work and it’s still light, for a short time, when I get home. And, with blessed relief, it’s finally stopped raining…
Here we go again!

Tier 2 mornings
It’s got to that time of the year where my working day is the only time I see daylight from Monday to Friday. Darkness greets me in the morning when I walk in and it gets dark by the time I’ve walked home. It’s a long walk…
Lockdown 2
Well! Here we are again! As Lockdown 2 draws to an end we prepare for the gloom that is Bristol in Tier Three and all that that entails. It didn’t take a genius to predict that we would end up here but it’s depressing all the same…
The Storm
Storm Francis has left its mark on the Common. After a very wet and very windy day news soon spread that a large tree had blown down not far away. Come dog walking time, we went to have a look…
Summer slips away
After the heat of the previous weeks the later half of August sees rain and strong winds. It can be so disappointing when we expect wall-to-wall sunshine and it doesn’t deliver…
The drought ends
During the very long months of lockdown we have had almost wall to wall hot, sunny weather. That the weeks of unseasonable heat have happened at a time when we’ve all been told to ‘stay in’ seem deeply ironic…
